Hillary Clinton refutes Federal Bureau of Investigation charges that she was 'careless' with emails

Clinton had said there were none whose content was classified at the time they were written.

"I do not believe that all of the professionals that I dealt with in the State Department were careless in handling classified material", Clinton said.

But Comey said that the FBI investigative team could not find evidence going through thousands of Clinton's emails that she "clearly, willfully" sought to violate us laws and that "no reasonable prosecutor would bring such a case" against her based on the evidence uncovered during the probe.

The president said he was concerned with the larger issue raised by Comey about the State Department's handling of classified information.

Even if the Justice Department wanted to prosecute Hillary, FBI director James Comey's press briefing would have made it hard, if not impossible, to get a grand jury to indict and a trial jury to convict. But she repeatedly noted that information later identified as classified was part of correspondence with hundreds of government officials who did not flag any problem. Chairman Trey Gowdy of SC says lawmakers may seek a federal investigation into whether Clinton lied to the committee in testimony a year ago.

Throughout the hearing, Comey was grilled on the specifics of his investigation, including how long the bureau spent probing Clinton's emails and if her account was actually hacked. "I do not believe that they did anything that in any way, they believed, was inappropriate".

Rep. Jason Chaffetz, R-Utah, chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, said he would refer Clinton's October 22 testimony to the FBI to investigate whether she lied to Congress. I think he was speculating.

Clinton has been under fire from Republicans this week after Comey announced that she mismanaged classified material. The case was closed by the Justice Department the next day. "I have said I regret using a personal email".

She also sidestepped a question about whether she will cooperate with the State Department's reopening of its investigation, which was paused during the FBI probe.

Clinton brushed off this characterization today, arguing the State Department may have marked material classified that shouldn't have been marked as such.

US President Barack Obama warns about the "not perfect" cybersecurity in the government, saying more has to be done.

In another interview to MSNBC, Clinton said there was no evidence of hacking of the server which hosted her emails.

"She also used her personal email extensively while outside the United States, including sending and receiving work-related emails in the territory of sophisticated adversaries".
